To paint clothes with aerosol spray paint, you should start by choose the part. Avoid choosing your favourite garment, as you always run the risk of overextending your clothes with the aerosol paint. This technique can be used with T-shirts, cushion covers, blouses, or any piece with plain fabric.

Then it’s time for choose ink. The ideal is to use spray paint to paint clothes, but other common paints can work well too, if the fabric is smooth (no wrinkles or textures). Choose your favourite colour or bet on several colours for a happier effect. Some paints resist washing, so prefer to buy a brand that allows you to wash the pieces after the painting dries. Read the manufacturer’s instructions carefully on the can.

Shake the spray bottle for at least two minutes. Hold the clothes firmly or place them on a chair (lined with plastic or aluminium, so as not to get dirty) well stretched. Then shake it, spray paint aerosoI on the clothes. Hold the can 25 centimetres from the surface to avoid the creation of ink stains. Do not forget to wear gloves for this procedure!

Hint: To make the colour more intense, let the first coat of paint dry and repeat the procedure as many times as necessary until a solid coat of paint is created.

Leave the ink dry for at least an hour. Depending on the fabric and the spray paint, it may be necessary to dry the clothes longer. When the garment is completely dry, remove the adhesive tape, turn the garment inside out and wash it in the machine to remove the smell of the paint before use.
